About these physics worksheets

These general physics worksheets cover the core ideas students meet first: forces and newtons, speed, mass versus weight, friction, density and floating, pressure, energy and conductors and insulators.

Each topic also has its own focused worksheet page.

What the worksheet covers

The question bank for this topic has 12 key terms, 10 true-or-false statements, 8 multiple-choice questions, 8 fill-in-the-blank sentences and 4 short-answer questions. Each worksheet mixes a selection, so no two are the same.

  • Question types: match words to meanings, fill in the blanks, true or false, multiple choice, short answers, word search.
  • Key words: force, energy, speed, mass, weight, friction, newton, density, pressure, wave, conductor, insulator.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between mass and weight?

Mass is how much matter something has (kilograms) and doesn’t change. Weight is gravity’s pull on it (newtons), which changes on the Moon.

Can I print it in black and white?

Yes. The worksheet uses light tints that print clearly in grey, or pick the grey colour theme.

What age is this worksheet for?

Grades 3–8 (ages 8–14). The questions use plain language and avoid trick wording.

Can I choose the kinds of questions?

Yes. Switch each section on or off (matching, fill in the blanks, true or false, multiple choice and more) and choose how many questions go in each.

Will every worksheet be the same?

No. Each tap of “New worksheet” picks a different mix of questions from the topic’s question bank, so you can give different versions to different students.
