About these suffixes worksheets
A suffix is added to the end of a word and often changes what kind of word it is: help → helpful (adjective), quick → quickly (adverb), kind → kindness (noun). These worksheets practise meanings, building words and choosing the right form in a sentence.
What the worksheet covers

Frequently asked questions
Does the spelling change when you add a suffix?
Sometimes. A final y often changes to i (happy → happiness), and a final e is often dropped before a vowel suffix (hope → hoping).
Is there an answer key?
Yes. Every worksheet ends with an answer key on its own page. Switch it off if you’re giving the sheet as a test.
Can I choose the kinds of questions?
Yes. Switch each section on or off (matching, fill in the blanks, true or false, multiple choice and more) and choose how many questions go in each.
Can I print it in black and white?
Yes. The worksheet uses light tints that print clearly in grey, or pick the grey colour theme.
Will every worksheet be the same?
No. Each tap of “New worksheet” picks a different mix of questions from the topic’s question bank, so you can give different versions to different students.
