Choose from easy stories (a lost kite, a hungry puppy), medium non-fiction (saving tigers, a village that saved its water) and challenging texts (the history of chess, the problem with plastic).

Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the right level?
Easy passages suit grades 1–2, medium grades 3–5 and challenging grades 6–8. If a student can read 95% of the words without help, the level is about right.
Is there an answer key?
Yes. Every worksheet ends with an answer key on its own page. Switch it off if you’re giving the sheet as a test.
Can I print it in black and white?
Yes. The worksheet uses light tints that print clearly in grey, or pick the grey colour theme.
What age is this worksheet for?
Grades 1–8 (ages 6–14). The questions use plain language and avoid trick wording.
Can I choose the kinds of questions?
Yes. Switch each section on or off (matching, fill in the blanks, true or false, multiple choice and more) and choose how many questions go in each.
