About the math bingo generator

Math bingo turns fact practice into a game. Each card is filled with answers; the caller reads a problem (“7 + 8”) and players work it out and mark 15 if they have it. The caller’s list shows each problem with its answer in brackets.

Every answer appears once, so there are no ties over duplicate squares.

Which card size?

  • 3 × 3 (with a free space) for a quick 5-minute round.
  • 4 × 4 for addition and subtraction to 20, which have fewer different answers.
  • 5 × 5 for division facts and longer games.

Frequently asked questions

Why do some lists suggest a 4 × 4 card?

Addition to 20 has only 19 different answers (2 to 20), not enough for a 5 × 5 card without repeats.

How do I call the game?

Cut out the squares on the caller’s list and draw them from a bowl, or read down the list ticking each one off as you go.

Can I play math bingo on a projector?

The cards are made for printing. For a screen game, try the classroom Jeopardy game or the random question generator.

How many cards fit on a page?

Two 4 × 4 or 5 × 5 cards per page, or four 3 × 3 cards. Print on card stock if you want to reuse them with counters.

Is every card different?

Yes, as long as the list has more items than a card has squares. Each card is shuffled separately, and tapping “New cards” makes a fresh set.
