About these inequality worksheets

Inequalities are solved like equations with one important difference: multiplying or dividing both sides by a negative number reverses the inequality sign. The “dividing by a negative” option focuses on exactly that rule.

Settings you can change

Each sheet has 20 questions by default (from 6 to 40), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for grades 7–9 (ages 12–15).

  • Type: One-step, Two-step, Dividing by a negative.

Teaching tips

  • Underline any negative coefficient before dividing.
  • Test a number from your answer in the original inequality.
  • Draw the solution on a number line.

New questions every time

The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the sign flip?

Multiplying by a negative reverses order: 2 < 5, but −2 > −5. So the inequality must flip to stay true.

Does every worksheet come with an answer key?

Yes. The answers print on a separate page at the end of the PDF. Switch “Answer key” off if you only want the questions.

Is it really free to print?

Yes. There’s no signup and no limit. The worksheets are generated on your device, and you can use them at home or in class.

Which grades are these worksheets for?

Grades 7–9 (ages 12–15), depending on the settings you choose. Switch on “Big print” for younger children.

What is the worksheet code?

Every sheet prints a short code. Typing the same code with the same settings rebuilds exactly the same questions, so you can reprint a sheet later or share the code with another teacher.
