About these proportion worksheets

A proportion says two ratios are equal: 3/4 = 9/12. To find a missing number, cross-multiply or spot the scale factor. Word problems use the unitary method: find the cost of one, then multiply.

Settings you can change

Each sheet has 16 questions by default (from 6 to 30), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for grades 6–8 (ages 11–14).

  • Type: Solve for the missing number, Word problems (unit rate).

Teaching tips

  • Look for the scale factor before cross-multiplying.
  • In word problems, find the value of one unit first.
  • Check the answer makes sense: more items should cost more.

New questions every time

The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.
