About these order of operations worksheets

The order of operations says which part of a calculation comes first: Brackets, Orders (powers), Division and Multiplication from left to right, then Addition and Subtraction from left to right. It’s BODMAS in India and the UK and PEMDAS in the US. Every answer is a whole number.

Settings you can change

Each sheet has 20 questions by default (from 6 to 40), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for grades 5–8 (ages 10–14).

  • Level: Two operations, Three operations and brackets, Powers and nested brackets.

Teaching tips

  • Underline the part to do first in each step.
  • Remember × and ÷ have equal priority, as do + and −: work left to right.
  • Rewrite the expression after each step.

New questions every time

The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.

Frequently asked questions

Is BODMAS the same as PEMDAS?

Yes. Both describe the same order; they just use different words (Brackets/Parentheses, Orders/Exponents).

Does every worksheet come with an answer key?

Yes. The answers print on a separate page at the end of the PDF. Switch “Answer key” off if you only want the questions.

What is the worksheet code?

Every sheet prints a short code. Typing the same code with the same settings rebuilds exactly the same questions, so you can reprint a sheet later or share the code with another teacher.

Is it really free to print?

Yes. There’s no signup and no limit. The worksheets are generated on your device, and you can use them at home or in class.

Can I make a different order of operations worksheet for each student?

Yes. Tap “New worksheet” for a fresh set of questions with the same settings. Each sheet has its own answer key, so you can hand out different versions.
