WiFi QR code generator

Guests scan once and they’re connected, no password typing.

What should the code open?

The password is stored inside the code. Anyone who scans it can join your network.

Uses the highest error correction so the code still scans.

Higher survives scratches and smudges, but makes a denser code.

How to make a Wi-Fi QR code

  1. 1

Type your Wi-Fi network name exactly as it appears on your phone.

  2. 2

Choose the security type (usually WPA) and enter the password.

  3. 3

Add a caption like “Scan for Wi-Fi” and download the code.

  4. 4

Print it and test: open your camera, point it at the code and tap “Join”.

Stop spelling out your Wi-Fi password

Guests at home, customers in a café, visitors at an office or students in a classroom all ask the same question. A Wi-Fi QR code answers it: they open their camera, point it at the code and tap “Join”. No typos, no reading out long passwords, and no sticky notes on the router.

Make a QR code for WiFi to share a WiFi password with a QR code: a WiFi password QR code that guests can scan.

Getting the details right

  • Network name must match exactly, including capitals and spaces. Copy it from your phone’s Wi-Fi settings.
  • Security is WPA for almost every router made in the last fifteen years, including WPA2 and WPA3. Choose WEP only for very old equipment, and None for open networks.
  • Hidden network tells phones to connect even though the network isn’t broadcast.

Special characters in names and passwords are handled automatically.

Where to put it

Print the code with a caption such as “Scan to join our Wi-Fi” and put it on a table stand, the fridge, the reception desk or a welcome card. For guests, consider a separate guest network on your router, so the code doesn’t give access to the devices on your main network.

Your password stays private

The code is created entirely in your browser, so your password is never sent to Atifo or anyone else. Remember that anyone who can photograph the printed code can read the password. To check what an existing code contains, use the QR code scanner.

Frequently asked questions

Which phones can join Wi-Fi from a QR code?

Android 10 and newer and iPhones with iOS 11 or newer can join directly from the built-in camera. Older Android phones may need Google Lens or a scanner app.

Is my Wi-Fi password safe?

The code is created in your browser and the password is never sent to Atifo. But anyone who can see the printed code can join your network, so only put it where you’d tell people the password anyway.

What if my network name has special characters?

That’s fine. Characters like ; , : and " are escaped automatically, as the Wi-Fi QR format requires.

Which security type should I choose?

Choose WPA for almost every home and office router (it covers WPA, WPA2 and WPA3). Choose None only for open networks without a password.
