About these 2d shapes worksheets

Two-dimensional shapes are flat. Each shape here asks for its name and the number of sides and vertices (corners). Circles have no straight sides or vertices, which makes a nice discussion point.

Settings you can change

Each sheet has 9 questions by default (from 4 to 18), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for grades 1–4 (ages 6–10).

Teaching tips

  • Mark each corner with a dot as you count.
  • Compare sides and vertices: what do you notice?
  • Make shapes from straws or sticks.

New questions every time

The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.

Frequently asked questions

Are sides and vertices always equal?

For polygons, yes: a pentagon has 5 sides and 5 vertices.

What is the worksheet code?

Every sheet prints a short code. Typing the same code with the same settings rebuilds exactly the same questions, so you can reprint a sheet later or share the code with another teacher.

Is it really free to print?

Yes. There’s no signup and no limit. The worksheets are generated on your device, and you can use them at home or in class.

Can I make a different 2d shapes worksheet for each student?

Yes. Tap “New worksheet” for a fresh set of questions with the same settings. Each sheet has its own answer key, so you can hand out different versions.

Which grades are these worksheets for?

Grades 1–4 (ages 6–10), depending on the settings you choose. Switch on “Big print” for younger children.
