About these perimeter worksheets
Perimeter is the distance all the way around a shape. For polygons, add every side; for a rectangle, 2 × (length + width) is the shortcut. Rectangles show only two side lengths, so students must remember the opposite sides are equal.
Settings you can change
Each sheet has 9 questions by default (from 4 to 18), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for grades 2–6 (ages 7–12).
- Shapes: Rectangles and squares, Triangles and polygons, Mixed.
- Unit: cm, m, in, ft.
Teaching tips
- Trace around the shape with a finger.
- Remember to include units in the answer.
- Don’t mix up perimeter (around) and area (inside).
New questions every time
The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.
Frequently asked questions
Why are only two sides labelled on rectangles?
Opposite sides of a rectangle are equal, so two lengths are enough, which checks that students know this.
Is it really free to print?
Yes. There’s no signup and no limit. The worksheets are generated on your device, and you can use them at home or in class.
Can I make a different perimeter worksheet for each student?
Yes. Tap “New worksheet” for a fresh set of questions with the same settings. Each sheet has its own answer key, so you can hand out different versions.
Which grades are these worksheets for?
Grades 2–6 (ages 7–12), depending on the settings you choose. Switch on “Big print” for younger children.
Does every worksheet come with an answer key?
Yes. The answers print on a separate page at the end of the PDF. Switch “Answer key” off if you only want the questions.
