About these shape identification worksheets

Children learn shape names by seeing them drawn clearly in different sizes and orientations. Choose basic shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, star, heart, pentagon, hexagon), all 2D shapes including rhombus, trapezium and parallelogram, or 3D solids.

Settings you can change

Each sheet has 12 questions by default (from 4 to 24), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for pre-K to grade 3 (ages 4–9).

  • Shapes: Basic shapes, All 2D shapes, 3D shapes.

Teaching tips

  • Name shapes you see around the room first.
  • A square is a special rectangle; talk about why.
  • Colour each shape a different colour.

New questions every time

The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.

Frequently asked questions

Is it trapezium or trapezoid?

Both are used: trapezium in India and the UK, trapezoid in the US. The answer key uses trapezium.

Which grades are these worksheets for?

Pre-K to grade 3 (ages 4–9), depending on the settings you choose. Switch on “Big print” for younger children.

Can I make a different shape identification worksheet for each student?

Yes. Tap “New worksheet” for a fresh set of questions with the same settings. Each sheet has its own answer key, so you can hand out different versions.

Is it really free to print?

Yes. There’s no signup and no limit. The worksheets are generated on your device, and you can use them at home or in class.

What is the worksheet code?

Every sheet prints a short code. Typing the same code with the same settings rebuilds exactly the same questions, so you can reprint a sheet later or share the code with another teacher.
