Exact age for forms, exams and jobs
Government job notifications, exam applications (UPSC, SSC, NEET and many others), school admissions and insurance forms often ask for your age on a specific cut-off date, not today. Enter your date of birth and set “Age on” to the date in the notification to get your age in completed years, months and days.

How age is counted
Age is counted in completed calendar units, the way it’s done for official purposes:
- Completed years and months are counted from your date of birth.
- The remaining days are counted from your last “monthly birthday”.
If you were born on the 29th, 30th or 31st, the months without that date count your monthly birthday on their last day. For example, from 31 January to 28 February is one month. People born on 29 February have their birthday on 28 February in non-leap years.
Ages are counted in whole days, so your time of birth and time zone don’t matter. “Today” uses your phone or computer’s date.
Checking age limits
If a notification says candidates must be “21 to 30 years as on 1 August 2026”, set that date and compare the completed years with the limits. Most notifications also give the exact range of birth dates allowed, along with age relaxations for reserved categories, so check those too.
Your date of birth stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find my age on a cut-off date for an exam or job?
Set “Age on” to the cut-off date in the notification, for example 1 August. The result is your age on that date in completed years, months and days.
How are months and days counted?
The calculator counts completed months from your birthday each month, then the remaining days. If you were born on the 31st, the shorter months count your “monthly birthday” on their last day.
What if I was born on 29 February?
In non-leap years your birthday is counted on 28 February, so the next-birthday countdown and age in years change that day.
Does it use my time zone?
“Today” is your device’s date. Ages are counted in whole calendar days, so the time of birth doesn’t matter.
