Meeting the 1 MB limit

1 MB is a frequent cap on government, education and employer portals, and on some email systems’ attachment rules. A single phone scan can be 3–5 MB per page, so even short documents need compressing, but 1 MB is generous enough that the result can look almost identical to the original.

Reduce PDF size to 1 MB, or get a PDF under 1 MB.

Near-original quality

With a 1 MB budget, Atifo can use high resolutions. Photos keep their detail, charts keep thin lines, and small print stays sharp. Many PDFs created on a computer, such as reports and brochures, get under 1 MB losslessly, so nothing about them changes except the size.

From huge scans to 1 MB

Files from scanner apps and multifunction printers often contain far more detail than anyone needs on screen. Atifo renders sample pages, predicts which settings will land under 1 MB, then checks the real result. Files up to 100 MB can be processed, and you can cancel at any time.

If you have several files

Portals with a 1 MB limit often want one file per field. If you need to upload several documents together, merge them first and then compress the merged PDF here. That way the whole package is optimized as one and stays under the limit.

Measured strictly

Atifo treats 1 MB as 1,000,000 bytes, a little stricter than systems that use 1,048,576. Your file passes either way.

Never uploaded

Your PDF is compressed by your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server at any point.

Frequently asked questions

Will photos and charts in my report stay sharp?

1 MB is a generous limit for most reports, so Atifo can keep a high resolution. Many text-heavy reports get under 1 MB losslessly, with nothing changed visually.

Is 1 MB the same as 1,024 KB?

Some systems say so. Atifo aims for 1,000,000 bytes, which is under both definitions, so your file passes either way.

My PDF is 40 MB. Can it get under 1 MB?

Often yes, if it is a phone scan or contains large photos. Atifo checks first and tells you honestly if the result can’t stay readable at that size.

Can I compress several PDFs to 1 MB at once?

One at a time for now. If the form takes one combined file, merge your PDFs first and then compress the merged file.
