How to split a PDF

  1. 1

Choose the PDF you want to split.

  2. 2

Pick a method: page ranges like 1-3, 5, 8-10, every few pages, or every page.

  3. 3

Check the preview of the files that will be created.

  4. 4

Tap “Split PDF” and download the parts, together as a ZIP if there are several.

Three ways to split a PDF

By ranges is the most flexible. Type the sections you want, such as 1-4, 5-9, 10-12, and each range becomes its own file. It’s ideal for separating chapters, or pulling invoices out of a monthly statement.

Use it as a PDF splitter to separate PDF pages into new files, cut a PDF into parts, or divide a PDF by page ranges.

Every N pages cuts a long document into equal parts. Scanned stacks of two-page forms split cleanly with “2”, and a 300-page report becomes manageable chunks with “50”.

Every page gives you one PDF per page. It’s useful when each page is a separate document, like a batch of scanned receipts or certificates.

See the result before you split

As you type, Atifo shows a preview of every file it will create, with the first page of each. Mistakes are caught right away: if you type a page that doesn’t exist, or a range written backwards, you’ll see a plain explanation instead of a broken file.

File names that stay in order

Each part is named after your original file and its pages, for example contract-pages-01-04-atifo.pdf. Numbers are padded so files sort correctly on your phone or computer. When there are several files, they arrive in one ZIP, and you can still download any single file from the result screen.

Nothing leaves your device

Splitting happens entirely inside your browser, so confidential reports and scanned documents are never uploaded anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write page ranges?

Separate ranges with commas: “1-3, 5, 8-10” creates three PDFs. “7-” means page 7 to the end, and “-3” means pages 1 to 3. The box tells you right away if a page doesn’t exist.

Can I split a PDF into single pages?

Yes. Choose “Every page” and each page becomes its own PDF. They download together in one ZIP file, named in page order.

Why do I get a ZIP file?

When a split creates more than one PDF, a ZIP keeps them together in one download. You can also download the files one by one from the result screen.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied without changes, so text stays selectable and images keep their original quality.

I only need some pages in one file. Which tool should I use?

Use Extract pages. Split creates several files, while Extract puts the pages you pick into a single new PDF.
