When you’re designing a website, a brochure or an app screen before the real words are written, you need text that looks like text without distracting anyone. Lorem ipsum has done that job for centuries: it has the rhythm and word lengths of real writing, but nobody stops to read it.

Where it comes from
The words are scrambled from Cicero’s “De finibus bonorum et malorum”, written in 45 BC. Typesetters adopted it in the 1500s and it has been the standard placeholder ever since.
