A common limit for photos and documents
50 KB is one of the most frequent limits on application portals in India and elsewhere: passport-size photos for exams, scanned category or income certificates, and ID proofs in JPG form. Phone photos of these are usually 1–5 MB, roughly a hundred times too large.
Reduce image size to 50 KB for photo uploads: get a JPG to 50 KB, a photo to 50 KB, or any image under 50 KB.
What fits in 50 KB
- A passport-style photo at the size forms expect, with plenty of room to keep it sharp.
- A single-page document photographed in good light, at a resolution where the text is still readable.
- A signature, many times over. If your signature needs to be under 20 KB, use Compress image to 20 KB.
Getting the clearest document
Lay the document flat, fill the frame with it, and crop away any table or background before compressing. Every kilobyte then goes to the text you need. Atifo keeps as many pixels as it can and only lowers JPG quality as much as needed.
Already under 50 KB?
If your JPG already fits and you haven’t asked for exact dimensions, Atifo returns the original file unchanged, so it never gets worse for nothing. For a PDF instead of an image, use Compress PDF to 50 KB.

Frequently asked questions
Will text on a 50 KB document image be readable?
For a single page, usually yes. Atifo keeps as many pixels as it can and lowers quality gradually. Crop away borders and background first so the whole 50 KB goes to the document itself.
My photo is already under 50 KB. Will it get worse?
No. If your JPG already fits and no exact size is set, Atifo gives you back the original file unchanged.
The form needs a JPG between 20 KB and 50 KB. Does this work?
Yes. Results land just under 50 KB at the best quality that fits, which is inside a 20–50 KB range for normal photos and scans.
Can I do a photo and a signature together?
Yes, add both. Each image is compressed to 50 KB separately and you download both in a ZIP. If they have different limits, use the tool twice with different targets.
