Made for upload limits

Exam registrations, job portals, scholarship and passport forms often say something like “photo: JPG, 20–50 KB” and “signature: 10–20 KB”. Getting a phone photo from 3 MB down to 50 KB without it turning into a blur is fiddly by hand. This tool does it in one step.

A photo size reducer in KB for strict upload limits: reduce image size in KB, resize an image to KB, or compress a JPEG to a specific size.

How Atifo hits the target

First it tries your image at full size, searching for the highest JPG (or WebP) quality that fits under the limit. If even low quality is too big, it reduces the dimensions a little at a time and searches again. That way you always get the sharpest image that fits, never one that is smaller than it needs to be.

Results land just under your limit. Atifo counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so files also pass portals that use 1,024.

Exact pixel sizes

Many forms also give dimensions, such as 200 × 230 pixels for a photo or 140 × 60 for a signature. Switch on “Set exact dimensions” and type them in. The image is cropped from the centre to that shape before compressing. For more control over what is kept, crop the image first.

When the limit is very small

Crop away empty background, scan signatures on plain white paper, and use good light. Less noise means more detail within the same number of kilobytes.

Frequently asked questions

How does Atifo hit an exact size?

It searches for the highest JPG quality that fits under your limit. If even low quality is too big, it reduces the dimensions step by step until the image fits, so you get the clearest possible result.

Why is my file a little under the limit, not exactly on it?

Atifo counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, the stricter definition. A file under 50 KB here also passes portals that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes, so uploads don’t fail by a few bytes.

The form asks for a size in pixels too. Can I set both?

Yes. Switch on “Set exact dimensions” and type the width and height. The photo is cropped from the centre to that shape, then compressed to your KB limit.

Should I choose JPG or WebP?

Choose JPG unless you know WebP is accepted. Almost every government and exam portal requires JPG or JPEG.

Can I do several photos at once?

Yes. Add up to 50 images and each one is compressed to the same target. You get them together as a ZIP.
