From raw export to proper workbook
CSV files from banks, online stores, school systems and apps are convenient for computers but awkward for people. Opened directly in Excel, they can lose the leading zeros in PIN codes, turn long numbers into 1.23E+11, mangle Hindi and ₹, or squash everything into one column because of a different separator. Converting to .xlsx fixes these problems once.
A CSV converter to open CSV in Excel with columns, dates and numbers set up properly.
What the conversion does
- Detects the separator (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe) for each file. The preview shows how the columns are read.
- Turns numeric text into real numbers you can total and sort.
- Keeps identifiers as text: values that start with 0, and long digit strings like phone, Aadhaar-style or account numbers, are kept exactly as written.
- Reads UTF-8 and older Windows encodings so names and symbols come through intact.
- Sizes the columns to fit their content.
Several files at once
Add up to 50 CSV files and each becomes a sheet in a single workbook, named after its file. That’s useful for monthly statements or exports from different branches. To stack all the rows into one big table instead, use Merge Excel with the “One sheet” option.
Private
The files are processed in your browser and never uploaded. Need it the other way round? Use Excel to CSV. To check or edit the result, open it in Edit Excel.
Frequently asked questions
Will my PIN codes and phone numbers keep their leading zeros?
Yes. Values that start with 0, and long digit strings like phone or account numbers, are kept as text so Excel doesn’t strip zeros or show them in scientific notation.
My CSV uses semicolons. Does that work?
Yes. The separator is detected automatically from the file, and you can choose it manually if needed.
Can I combine several CSV files?
Yes. Add them all and each becomes a separate sheet in one workbook. To stack them into a single table instead, use Merge Excel.
Why convert CSV to Excel at all?
Excel files keep column widths, real numbers you can total, filters and multiple sheets, and they open the same way everywhere, without encoding or separator problems.
