Combine workbooks in seconds
Monthly sales reports, branch-wise attendance, exports from different systems, survey responses collected in separate files: combining them by copy-paste is slow and error-prone. Add the files, choose how to merge, and download one workbook.
Combine Excel files, merge XLSX or combine CSV files, and consolidate Excel sheets into one workbook or one sheet.
Two ways to merge
One workbook, separate sheets. Each file (or each sheet in each file) becomes its own tab. Sheets are copied with their values, formulas, number formats, column widths and merged cells. Sheet names come from the file names, so you know which tab is which.
One sheet, all rows. All rows are stacked into a single table under one header. With “First row is headers” switched on, columns are matched by name, so it doesn’t matter if “Amount” is column C in one file and column E in another. New columns found in later files are added at the end. Switch on “Add a Source file column” to record where each row came from.
Good to know
- Excel (.xlsx, .xls), OpenDocument (.ods) and CSV files can be mixed.
- Drag the files into the order you want; rows and sheets follow that order.
- Colours and fonts aren’t copied, but all your data is.
- Up to 50 files at a time.
Private
Everything is processed in your browser, which matters for salary sheets, customer data and accounts. Need the opposite? Split Excel breaks one big file into several. To combine Word or PDF files, see Merge Word documents and Merge PDF.
Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between the two merge options?
“Separate sheets” puts each file in its own tab, like copying sheets into one workbook. “One sheet, all rows” stacks the rows into a single table, ideal for combining monthly or branch reports.
What if columns are in a different order in each file?
With “First row is headers” on, columns are matched by name, so “Amount” lines up with “Amount” even if it’s in a different position.
Can I tell which file each row came from?
Yes. Switch on “Add a Source file column” when stacking rows.
Are formulas kept?
In “Separate sheets” mode, cell formulas are copied with the sheets. When stacking rows, the calculated values are used.
