About these measurement worksheets
Measuring with a ruler means starting at zero and reading to the end of the line, including half units. Each question draws a line above a printed ruler in centimetres or inches. The conversion options practise km, m, cm and mm, kg and g, L and mL, plus feet, inches, pounds and ounces.
Settings you can change
Each sheet has 8 questions by default (from 4 to 30), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for grades 1–6 (ages 6–12).
- Type: Measure with a ruler, Convert length, Convert mass and capacity.
- Ruler units: Centimetres, Inches.
Teaching tips
- Line up the start of the line with 0, not the end of the ruler.
- Memorise key facts: 100 cm = 1 m, 1000 g = 1 kg.
- Estimate before measuring.
New questions every time
The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.
Frequently asked questions
Is the printed ruler accurate?
Lines are drawn to scale against the printed ruler, so readings are correct; real-world size matches when printed at 100%.
Does every worksheet come with an answer key?
Yes. The answers print on a separate page at the end of the PDF. Switch “Answer key” off if you only want the questions.
Which grades are these worksheets for?
Grades 1–6 (ages 6–12), depending on the settings you choose. Switch on “Big print” for younger children.
Can I make a different measurement worksheet for each student?
Yes. Tap “New worksheet” for a fresh set of questions with the same settings. Each sheet has its own answer key, so you can hand out different versions.
Is it really free to print?
Yes. There’s no signup and no limit. The worksheets are generated on your device, and you can use them at home or in class.
