About this rubric generator
A rubric makes marking fair and shows students what good work looks like. Type your criteria (ideas, organisation, evidence, presentation) and the rubric lays them out down the side with four levels across: Excellent (4), Good (3), Developing (2) and Beginning (1). Write a short descriptor in each box, then use the score column and comments when marking.
Share the blank rubric with students before they start, so they know how their work will be judged.
What’s on the page
- A header with assignment, student, date.
- A table with columns for Criteria, Excellent (4), Good (3), Developing (2), Beginning (1), Score, with rows for your criteria.
- Comments: lined space to write in.
Tips
- Describe what you will see at each level, not just “good” or “poor”.
- Keep to four to six criteria so marking stays quick.
- Give each criterion a weight if some matter more.
Made to fit, then printed
Everything on this rubric generator can be changed before you print: the title, the criteria, the colour, the paper size and orientation. The page is drawn on your device and nothing is uploaded. Find more printables.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the number of levels?
The printed rubric has four levels, the most common choice. For three levels, leave the last column blank or label it N/A.
Can I change the criteria?
Yes. Type your own, one per line, and the page updates as you type. Leave a line empty to remove it.
Can I remove the atifo.app line at the bottom?
Yes. Switch off “Show atifo.app credit” in the Look section and the PDF has no branding at all.
Will it print well in black and white?
Yes. The layout uses light fills and clear lines that print cleanly in grey. Choose the “Grey” colour to save colour ink entirely.
What paper size should I print on?
Choose A4 or US Letter before downloading, and print at 100% or “Actual size”. Portrait and landscape layouts are both available.
