About these ten frames worksheets
A ten frame is a 2 × 5 grid that shows numbers in relation to 5 and 10. Children quickly learn to “see” 7 as five and two more, or three less than ten. Choose to count the dots, find how many more make ten, or count to 20 with two frames.
Settings you can change
Each sheet has 12 questions by default (from 4 to 24), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for pre-K to grade 1 (ages 4–7).
- Question: How many?, How many more to make 10?, Count to 20 (two frames).
Teaching tips
- Fill the top row first, left to right, as the worksheets do.
- Ask “How many empty boxes?” for the make-10 sheets.
- Use real counters on a printed frame.
New questions every time
The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.
Frequently asked questions
Why use ten frames?
They build a sense of 5 and 10 as anchor numbers, which supports addition strategies like making ten.
Can I make a different ten frames worksheet for each student?
Yes. Tap “New worksheet” for a fresh set of questions with the same settings. Each sheet has its own answer key, so you can hand out different versions.
What is the worksheet code?
Every sheet prints a short code. Typing the same code with the same settings rebuilds exactly the same questions, so you can reprint a sheet later or share the code with another teacher.
Which grades are these worksheets for?
Pre-K to grade 1 (ages 4–7), depending on the settings you choose. Switch on “Big print” for younger children.
Is it really free to print?
Yes. There’s no signup and no limit. The worksheets are generated on your device, and you can use them at home or in class.
