Tap “New worksheet” until you like the questions; each sheet is different.

About these number matching worksheets

Matching a quantity to its numeral links counting with reading numbers. Each picture shows dice dots or a ten frame, and children write the matching number in the box. Dice patterns build subitising (seeing how many without counting), and ten frames show numbers in relation to 5 and 10.

For an on-screen version, try the number matching game.

Settings you can change

Each sheet has 12 questions by default (from 4 to 24), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for pre-K to grade 1 (ages 3–6).

  • Numbers up to: 6 (dice), 10, 20.

Teaching tips

  • Let children touch each dot as they count.
  • Ask “How did you know without counting?” for dice patterns.
  • Move to ten frames to 20 once 10 is secure.

New questions every time

The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.

Frequently asked questions

What is subitising?

Recognising how many objects there are at a glance, without counting one by one. Dice patterns are a classic way to practise it.

Does every worksheet come with an answer key?

Yes. The answers print on a separate page at the end of the PDF. Switch “Answer key” off if you only want the questions.

What is the worksheet code?

Every sheet prints a short code. Typing the same code with the same settings rebuilds exactly the same questions, so you can reprint a sheet later or share the code with another teacher.

Is it really free to print?

Yes. There’s no signup and no limit. The worksheets are generated on your device, and you can use them at home or in class.

Can I make a different number matching worksheet for each student?

Yes. Tap “New worksheet” for a fresh set of questions with the same settings. Each sheet has its own answer key, so you can hand out different versions.
