About this budget planner
A budget planner gives every rupee a job before the month starts. List your income, then plan fixed costs (rent, EMIs, school fees), variable costs (groceries, fuel, eating out) and savings. At month end, fill in what you actually spent and see the difference.
This is also a monthly budget worksheet: print a dated page for each month and compare them over the year.
What’s on the page
- Income: a table with columns for Source, Expected, Received, with rows for Salary, Other income.
- Fixed expenses: a table with columns for Category, Budget, Actual, Difference, with rows for your fixed expenses.
- Variable expenses: a table with columns for Category, Budget, Actual, Difference, with rows for your variable expenses.
- Savings and debt: a table with columns for Category, Budget, Actual, Difference, with rows for Emergency fund, SIP or investments, Extra debt payment.
- Summary: a table with columns for , Planned, Actual, with rows for Total income, Total expenses, Total savings, Left over.
Tips
- Pay yourself first: plan savings before spending.
- Track spending through the month with the expense tracker.
- If actual spending is over budget twice in a row, adjust the budget.
Made to fit, then printed
Everything on this budget planner can be changed before you print: the title, the fixed expenses, the dates, the colour, the paper size and orientation. The page is drawn on your device and nothing is uploaded. Find more printables.
Frequently asked questions
What is the 50/30/20 rule?
A simple guide: about 50% of take-home pay on needs, 30% on wants and 20% on savings and debt repayment. Adjust it to your situation.
Can I remove the atifo.app line at the bottom?
Yes. Switch off “Show atifo.app credit” in the Look section and the PDF has no branding at all.
What paper size should I print on?
Choose A4 or US Letter before downloading, and print at 100% or “Actual size”. Portrait and landscape layouts are both available.
Can I print several months at once?
Yes. Pick the start date and how many months you need; each month gets its own page with the right dates, all in one PDF.
Can I change the fixed expenses?
Yes. Type your own, one per line, and the page updates as you type. Leave a line empty to remove it.
