How to create a PDF

  1. 1

Start with a blank page or a template: letter, report or meeting notes.

  2. 2

Type your text and use the toolbar for headings, lists, tables and photos.

  3. 3

Name the file, choose A4 or US Letter, and tap Download to save your PDF.

Make a PDF from scratch

You don’t need a PDF program or an account to make a PDF. Type your text here and download it as a finished PDF in a few seconds. It works for a cover letter, a notice, an application, a price list or a short report, anything you want to send in a form that looks the same everywhere and can’t be changed by accident. The editor has the essentials: headings, bold and italic, bullet and numbered lists, tables, photos, links and page breaks.

Start from a template

  • Letter: sender and recipient blocks, date, subject line and closing.
  • Report: title, summary, background, findings and recommendations.
  • Meeting notes: date, attendees, agenda and an action-items table.
  • Blank document for anything else.

Replace the sample text with your own and delete what you don’t need. You can also paste text from an email, a website or another document. Hidden styles are removed, but headings, lists, links and tables are kept.

Page size, layout and file size

Choose A4, the standard paper size in most countries, or US Letter. Pages get even margins, and long text flows onto new pages automatically. Insert a page break wherever you want a new page to start. Photos are scaled down before they go into the PDF, so a document with a few pictures usually stays well under the upload limits of email and online forms. If a portal asks for a smaller file, run the result through Compress PDF.

Tips for a clean PDF

Use Heading 1 for the title and Heading 2 for sections, keep tables to a few columns so they fit the page width on A4, and check the file name before you download: it becomes the name of your PDF. Want to keep editing later? On the same screen, choose Word (.docx) and save an editable copy as well.

Private by design

Your text never leaves your device. The PDF is made by your browser, nothing is uploaded, and the page warns you before you close it with changes you haven’t downloaded. To turn photos into a PDF, use JPG to PDF. To change an existing PDF, open the PDF editor.

Frequently asked questions

Can I create a PDF without installing anything?

Yes. The editor runs in your browser on any phone or computer. There is no app to install, no account and no watermark on your PDF.

Can I add pictures and tables to the PDF?

Yes. Insert photos from your phone or computer and add tables with as many rows and columns as you need. Large photos are resized so the PDF stays small enough to email.

Is the text in my PDF selectable?

Yes for English and other Latin-script languages: the text is real, searchable PDF text. Hindi, Arabic and other scripts are drawn as sharp images of the text so every letter is shaped correctly.

Can I edit the PDF later?

To keep editing later, also save a Word (.docx) copy from the same screen and open it in the Word editor. To change a finished PDF, use the PDF editor.

Is my document uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything you type stays in this browser tab and the PDF is made on your device. Download it before you close the page.
