Edit a PDF without special software

PDFs are made to look the same everywhere, which is why they’re hard to change. This PDF editor lets you make the everyday changes people actually need: fix a wrong word, fill in a form that isn’t fillable, add a note, cover a mistake, tick a box, insert a logo or photo, or point something out with an arrow. Everything happens in your browser, on your phone or computer, and the file is never uploaded.

What you can do

  • Edit text: tap any line of existing text to change it. The original is covered and your new words are placed exactly over it, in a matching size and font style.
  • Add text: tap anywhere and type, with your choice of font, size, colour, bold, italic and alignment.
  • Images: add a logo, photo, stamp or scanned signature, then move and resize it.
  • Draw: freehand with a finger, stylus or mouse, in any colour and thickness.
  • Highlight: mark important lines in see-through yellow or any colour.
  • Whiteout: cover text, images or marks with a white box.
  • Shapes and marks: boxes, circles, lines, arrows, ticks and crosses.

Every item can be selected, moved, resized, restyled, duplicated or deleted, and undo and redo cover every step.

How editing existing text works

Most PDFs don’t store sentences the way a Word file does; they store positioned letters. Rewriting them inside the file breaks easily, so this editor does what most online editors do: it hides the original words under a white box that matches the line, and writes your new text on top. On white pages the result looks like the text was simply changed. On coloured or patterned backgrounds the white cover can show, so it works best on ordinary white documents.

Tips

  • Zoom in to place small text precisely, and use the arrow keys to nudge a selected item (hold Shift for bigger steps).
  • Filling in a printed form? Use Add text for each answer and Tick for the boxes, then save.
  • Want answers locked? Your saved file keeps edits as part of the page; to remove fillable form fields too, use Flatten PDF.
  • Need a signature? The Sign PDF tool lets you draw, type or upload one and reuse it.

Private and free

There’s no signup, no watermark and no limit on edits. Your PDF is opened and saved on your device, which matters for contracts, IDs, bank statements and medical forms.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the existing text in my PDF?

Yes. Choose “Edit text” and tap any line. The original words are covered with a white box and replaced by your new text in a matching size and font style. It works best on PDFs with a white background.

Can I remove something from a PDF?

Use Whiteout to cover text, images or marks with a white box. The covered content is hidden on screen and when printed.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Every tool works with touch: tap to place text and ticks, drag to draw boxes, and drag the corner handles to resize.

Will my edited PDF keep its text selectable?

Yes. The original PDF is kept as it is, and new text in English and other Latin-script languages is added as real, selectable text. Text in other scripts, such as Hindi or Arabic, is added as a high-resolution image of the text.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The editor runs entirely in your browser, so private documents never leave your device.
