About these fraction coloring worksheets
Colouring a fraction is the reverse of naming one: children read 3/5 and shade three of the five equal parts. It’s a hands-on way to understand numerators and denominators, and coloured pencils make it feel more like art than maths.
Settings you can change
Each sheet has 12 questions by default (from 4 to 24), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for grades 1–4 (ages 6–10).
- Denominators: Halves, thirds, quarters, Up to tenths, Up to twelfths.
Teaching tips
- Any parts can be coloured, as long as it’s the right number.
- Use one colour per question to keep it neat.
- Compare two shapes showing the same fraction.
New questions every time
The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.
Frequently asked questions
Does it matter which parts are coloured?
No. Any 3 of 5 equal parts is 3/5. The answer key shows one correct way.
Which grades are these worksheets for?
Grades 1–4 (ages 6–10), depending on the settings you choose. Switch on “Big print” for younger children.
Can I make a different fraction coloring worksheet for each student?
Yes. Tap “New worksheet” for a fresh set of questions with the same settings. Each sheet has its own answer key, so you can hand out different versions.
Is it really free to print?
Yes. There’s no signup and no limit. The worksheets are generated on your device, and you can use them at home or in class.
What is the worksheet code?
Every sheet prints a short code. Typing the same code with the same settings rebuilds exactly the same questions, so you can reprint a sheet later or share the code with another teacher.
