About these fraction multiplication worksheets

Multiplying fractions is the easiest operation: multiply the numerators, multiply the denominators, then simplify. A whole number is written over 1, and mixed numbers become improper fractions first. Cancelling common factors before multiplying keeps the numbers small.

Settings you can change

Each sheet has 20 questions by default (from 6 to 40), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for grades 5–7 (ages 10–13).

  • Denominators: Proper fractions, Fraction and whole number, Mixed numbers.
  • Answers: Mixed numbers, Improper fractions.

Teaching tips

  • Cancel common factors diagonally before multiplying.
  • Convert mixed numbers to improper fractions first.
  • “Of” means multiply: 1/2 of 3/4 = 1/2 × 3/4.

New questions every time

The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a common denominator to multiply?

No. Common denominators are only needed for adding and subtracting.

Which grades are these worksheets for?

Grades 5–7 (ages 10–13), depending on the settings you choose. Switch on “Big print” for younger children.

Does every worksheet come with an answer key?

Yes. The answers print on a separate page at the end of the PDF. Switch “Answer key” off if you only want the questions.

What is the worksheet code?

Every sheet prints a short code. Typing the same code with the same settings rebuilds exactly the same questions, so you can reprint a sheet later or share the code with another teacher.

Is it really free to print?

Yes. There’s no signup and no limit. The worksheets are generated on your device, and you can use them at home or in class.
