About these decimal multiplication worksheets

To multiply decimals, multiply as if they were whole numbers, then count the total decimal places in both numbers and put that many in the answer. 2.4 × 0.3: 24 × 3 = 72, two decimal places in total, so 0.72.

Settings you can change

Each sheet has 20 questions by default (from 6 to 40), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for grades 5–7 (ages 10–13).

  • Decimal places: Tenths, Hundredths, Thousandths.
  • Number size: Under 10, Under 100, Under 1,000.

Teaching tips

  • Estimate first to check where the point goes.
  • Count decimal places in both numbers.
  • Multiplying by a decimal less than 1 makes the number smaller.

New questions every time

The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.

Frequently asked questions

Do I line up decimal points to multiply?

No. Lining up points is for adding and subtracting. For multiplying, count decimal places instead.

Does every worksheet come with an answer key?

Yes. The answers print on a separate page at the end of the PDF. Switch “Answer key” off if you only want the questions.

Can I make a different decimal multiplication worksheet for each student?

Yes. Tap “New worksheet” for a fresh set of questions with the same settings. Each sheet has its own answer key, so you can hand out different versions.

What is the worksheet code?

Every sheet prints a short code. Typing the same code with the same settings rebuilds exactly the same questions, so you can reprint a sheet later or share the code with another teacher.

Which grades are these worksheets for?

Grades 5–7 (ages 10–13), depending on the settings you choose. Switch on “Big print” for younger children.
