About these number recognition worksheets

Before children can add or count on, they need to recognise numerals quickly. Each row shows a target number at the start followed by a mix of numbers; children find and circle the target, which appears twice. Choose numbers up to 10 for preschool or up to 100 for older children.

Pair it with number tracing to practise writing the same numbers.

Settings you can change

Each sheet has 10 questions by default (from 4 to 16), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for pre-K to grade 1 (ages 3–6).

  • Numbers up to: 10, 20, 50, 100.

Teaching tips

  • Say the target number aloud together before each row.
  • Watch for confusions such as 6 and 9, or 12 and 21.
  • Use big print for small hands.

New questions every time

The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.

Frequently asked questions

How many times does the target appear?

Twice in every row, so children keep looking after finding the first one.

What is the worksheet code?

Every sheet prints a short code. Typing the same code with the same settings rebuilds exactly the same questions, so you can reprint a sheet later or share the code with another teacher.

Can I make a different number recognition worksheet for each student?

Yes. Tap “New worksheet” for a fresh set of questions with the same settings. Each sheet has its own answer key, so you can hand out different versions.

Does every worksheet come with an answer key?

Yes. The answers print on a separate page at the end of the PDF. Switch “Answer key” off if you only want the questions.

Is it really free to print?

Yes. There’s no signup and no limit. The worksheets are generated on your device, and you can use them at home or in class.
