Proof of payment in a minute
Tuition fees, rent deposits, advance payments, donations and cash sales all deserve a receipt. It protects both sides: the payer can prove they paid, and you have a record of what you received. Fill in the amount, who paid and what it was for, and download a clear PDF receipt.

What’s on the receipt
- Your name or business details, with optional GSTIN.
- Receipt number and date.
- “Received from”, the amount in figures and in words, and what it was for.
- Payment mode (cash, UPI, bank transfer, cheque or card) and the reference, such as a UPI transaction ID or cheque number.
- A signature line, and for cheques, “Subject to realisation”.
One or two copies
Choose “Two copies on one page” to print a customer copy and an office copy with a cut line, just like a receipt book. For digital receipts, keep one copy and email or WhatsApp the PDF.
Revenue stamps
In India, cash receipts above ₹5,000 generally need a ₹1 revenue stamp signed across by the person receiving the money. When you choose Cash and enter more than ₹5,000, a stamp box appears on the receipt automatically.
Need something more specific?
Tenants claiming HRA need monthly rent receipts with the landlord’s PAN: the rent receipt generator makes a year of them at once. To request payment rather than confirm it, use the invoice generator.
Frequently asked questions
What should a payment receipt include?
A receipt number and date, who paid, the amount in figures and words, what it was for, how it was paid, and the signature of the person receiving the money. This template includes all of them.
Do I need a revenue stamp?
In India, a receipt for a cash payment above ₹5,000 generally needs a ₹1 revenue stamp, signed across. Atifo adds a stamp box automatically in that case.
What are the two copies for?
One copy goes to the payer and the other stays with you as a record, like a traditional receipt book. Both print on one page with a cut line.
Is a receipt the same as an invoice?
No. An invoice asks for payment; a receipt confirms that payment was received. For GST purposes, use the GST invoice generator.
