Get the words out of a PDF
Copying text straight out of a PDF viewer often goes wrong: lines break in odd places, columns get mixed up, and long documents mean endless scrolling and selecting. PDF to text pulls out all the text at once as clean, plain text you can paste into an email, a document, a translation tool or an AI assistant.
Save PDF to TXT, or copy text from a PDF when selecting it in a reader doesn’t work well.
Paragraphs that make sense
PDFs store text as small pieces placed on the page, not as sentences. Atifo puts those pieces back together using their positions, joining words on the same line, starting new lines where the text moves down, and leaving a blank line where there is a paragraph gap. Turn on Mark page breaks to see where each page starts.
Scanned pages, explained
Some PDFs are really pictures of pages, made by scanners and phone camera apps. They have no text layer to read. Atifo checks every page, and if some pages turn out to be images, it tells you which ones instead of quietly leaving them out. Reading text from images needs OCR (optical character recognition).
Choose what to extract
Extract the whole document, or just the pages you need, such as 3-7 for a single chapter. The result appears in a preview box with a word count, ready to copy with one tap or download as a .txt file that opens anywhere.
Private and offline-friendly
Text is extracted by your browser. Your PDF isn’t uploaded, so it is safe for contracts, research and personal documents.
Frequently asked questions
Why do some pages have no text?
Those pages are images, usually from a scanner or phone camera. Their words are part of a picture, so reading them needs OCR (optical character recognition), which Atifo doesn’t offer yet.
Is the text kept in the right order?
Atifo follows the order of text in the PDF and rebuilds lines and paragraphs from their positions. Most documents come out in reading order; complex layouts with many columns may need small fixes.
Is formatting kept?
No. A .txt file holds plain text only, so fonts, colours, tables and images are left out. Line breaks and paragraph gaps are kept.
Can I copy the text on my phone?
Yes. Tap “Copy text” to copy everything, or select part of the text in the preview box.
Does it work with protected PDFs?
PDFs with editing restrictions that open without a password work. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
