About these decimal comparison worksheets
A common misconception is that a longer decimal is bigger: 0.45 looks bigger than 0.5. These worksheets include many such tricky pairs on purpose. Compare digits from left to right after the whole-number part, padding with zeros if it helps.
Settings you can change
Each sheet has 24 questions by default (from 6 to 40), a name, date and score line, and an answer key on a separate page. Best for grades 4–6 (ages 9–12).
- Decimal places: Tenths, Hundredths, Thousandths.
Teaching tips
- Add zeros to make the decimals the same length.
- Think in money: 50 paise vs 45 paise.
- Place both on a number line.
New questions every time
The questions are written by rules on your device, not picked from a fixed sheet, so every tap of “New worksheet” gives a different set. Nothing is uploaded. Explore all math worksheets.
Frequently asked questions
Why include tricky pairs?
Pairs like 0.5 and 0.45 reveal the “longer is bigger” misconception, which is the most common decimal error.
Which grades are these worksheets for?
Grades 4–6 (ages 9–12), depending on the settings you choose. Switch on “Big print” for younger children.
What is the worksheet code?
Every sheet prints a short code. Typing the same code with the same settings rebuilds exactly the same questions, so you can reprint a sheet later or share the code with another teacher.
Can I make a different decimal comparison worksheet for each student?
Yes. Tap “New worksheet” for a fresh set of questions with the same settings. Each sheet has its own answer key, so you can hand out different versions.
Does every worksheet come with an answer key?
Yes. The answers print on a separate page at the end of the PDF. Switch “Answer key” off if you only want the questions.
