One document instead of many
Chapters written by different people, monthly reports, a cover letter plus a CV, or contract annexes: combining Word files by copying and pasting is slow and often messes up formatting. Add the files here, drag them into order and download one combined document.
Combine DOCX files or combine Word files into one: merge DOCX online and join Word documents in the order you choose.
Options
- Start each document on a new page keeps every file’s content separate, like chapters. Switch it off to run them together.
- Add each file name as a heading labels each section, which helps when combining many short files.
- Save as Word or PDF: choose .docx to keep editing, or PDF to send a finished document.
What’s kept
Text, headings, bold and italic, lists, tables, links and images from every document are kept, in order. Because each original might use different fonts, sizes and page settings, the merged file uses one clean, consistent style throughout. That usually looks better than a patchwork of styles, but if the exact design of each file matters, merge them in Word using Insert → Text from File.
Already have PDFs?
If your files are already PDFs, use Merge PDF, which keeps every page exactly as it is. To merge spreadsheets, use Merge Excel.
Private
All documents are read and combined on your device, so nothing is uploaded, even for confidential files.
Frequently asked questions
Is formatting kept when merging?
Text, headings, bold and italic, lists, tables, links and images are kept. Each document’s fonts, colours and page setup are replaced by one clean standard style, so the merged file looks consistent.
Can I merge into a PDF instead?
Yes. Choose PDF as the output. To combine files that are already PDFs, use Merge PDF.
How many documents can I merge?
Up to 30 at a time. Very long documents with many images may take a little longer on older phones.
Will each document start on a new page?
Yes, by default. Switch off “Start each document on a new page” to run them together.
