Every picture, at full quality
Saving pictures from a Word document one by one is tedious, and copy-pasting often reduces their quality. A .docx file is actually a ZIP archive with the original images stored inside a media folder. This tool opens that archive in your browser and gives you every image exactly as it was inserted, at full resolution, in one ZIP.
A DOCX image extractor: save images from DOCX files and download pictures from Word. It can also extract images from PPTX and XLSX files.
Works with Office and OpenDocument files
- Word documents (.docx) and OpenDocument text (.odt)
- PowerPoint presentations (.pptx) and OpenDocument slides (.odp)
- Excel workbooks (.xlsx) and OpenDocument sheets (.ods)
Add several files at once; when you do, image names start with the document name so you can tell them apart.
About the image formats
Photos usually come out as JPG and screenshots as PNG. Some charts, diagrams and clip art are stored as EMF or WMF, Windows vector formats. They’re included in the ZIP but most browsers can’t preview them; open them in Word, LibreOffice or Inkscape to convert them.
Common uses
Reusing product photos from a catalogue, recovering pictures from an old presentation, collecting diagrams for a report, or getting full-size images out of a document someone sent you. To shrink the images afterwards, use Compress image.
Private
Files are unzipped in your browser and never uploaded. Old .doc and .ppt files use a different format; save them as .docx or .pptx first.
Frequently asked questions
Are the images at full quality?
Yes. Office files store pictures as separate files inside a ZIP archive. Atifo copies them out exactly, without re-compressing.
Does it work with PowerPoint and Excel?
Yes. .pptx and .xlsx files store images the same way, as do OpenDocument files (.odt, .ods, .odp).
Why are some images in EMF or WMF format?
Those are Windows vector formats used for charts and clip art. Open them in Word, LibreOffice or Inkscape to convert them.
Can I extract images from a PDF?
Not with this tool. Use PDF to JPG to save each PDF page as an image.
