Clean HTML, not Word soup

“Save as Web Page” in Word produces HTML stuffed with Office-specific styles, conditional comments and font definitions. Pasted into a website, it breaks your design and bloats the page. Atifo converts your document to clean, semantic HTML that uses only standard elements:

A Word HTML converter for DOCX to HTML that outputs clean HTML from Word, without the extra styling Word adds.

  • h1–h4 for headings and p for paragraphs
  • ul, ol and li for lists, including nested lists
  • table, tr, th and td for tables
  • strong, em, u and s for emphasis
  • a for links and img for pictures

Your site’s own styles then take over, so the content looks like the rest of your pages.

Two output styles

  • Complete web page adds a <head>, a title and light styling, so the file opens nicely on its own in a browser.
  • Content only gives just the body HTML, ready to paste into WordPress, Blogger, Ghost, Webflow or any CMS’s HTML or code view.

Images

By default, images are embedded directly in the HTML as data, so a single file contains everything. That’s convenient but makes the file larger. If you upload images to your CMS separately, switch off “Include images” for lighter HTML.

Safe output

Only web, email and phone links are kept; anything unusual is removed. Your document is converted on your device and never uploaded. For plain text instead, use Word to text.

Frequently asked questions

Why not use “Save as web page” in Word?

Word’s own HTML is full of styling code and Office-specific tags. Atifo produces clean, semantic HTML (h1–h4, p, ul, ol, table, a, strong, em) that’s easy to paste into WordPress, Blogger or any CMS.

What happens to images?

They are embedded in the HTML as data, so the file works on its own. Switch off “Include images” if you will upload images separately.

Are links kept?

Yes, web, email and phone links are kept. Unsafe link types are removed for security.

Can I paste the output into WordPress?

Yes. Switch off “Complete web page” to get just the content, then paste it into the code or HTML view of your editor.
