About this scholarship application form

Trusts, schools, colleges, companies and community organisations award scholarships on merit, need or both. A clear application form gives every applicant the same chance and gives the panel what it needs: academic record, achievements, financial situation where relevant, an essay and references.

If your scholarship is purely merit-based, delete the financial section; if it’s purely need-based, use the financial aid application form instead.

What’s on the scholarship application form

The template has 7 sections and 18 questions. Every one can be renamed, moved or deleted.

  • Education: Current school or college; Course and year; Results table (Exam or year, Marks or grade, Board or institution)
  • Achievements: Awards, activities and service
  • Financial information: Annual family income; Number of family members; Other scholarships received
  • Essay: Why do you deserve this scholarship, and how will it help your goals?; How will you use the funds? (choose one: Tuition fees, Books and supplies, Hostel and living, Travel, Equipment)
  • Documents: Attached (tick all that apply: Mark sheets, ID proof, Income certificate, Recommendation letters, Photo)

Tips

  • State eligibility criteria and the deadline clearly in the instructions.
  • Ask for income documents only from shortlisted applicants to protect privacy.
  • Score applications with a rubric so the panel is consistent.

Four ways to save it

A fillable PDF has typing boxes, tick boxes and choices built in. A printable PDF gives clean boxes and writing lines for pen and paper. The Word file can be edited further, and the HTML code adds the same questions to a website. Browse more form templates, or design a completely different layout in the custom form builder.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a scholarship essay be?

Typically 300–500 words. Set the limit in the instructions and adjust the number of writing lines.

What documents should applicants attach?

Usually mark sheets, an ID, income proof for need-based awards, and recommendation letters. The checklist covers these.

Can I change the questions on the scholarship application form?

Yes. Rename any question, change its answer type (short answer, tick boxes, rating, table and more), move it, or delete it. You can also add whole new sections.

Is anything I type sent to a server?

No. The editor runs in your browser and builds the file on your device. Atifo has no server that could receive your form or the answers on it.

Can people fill in this scholarship application form on a phone?

Yes. Choose “Fillable PDF” and send the file. It opens in the Files or Drive app on Android, Files on iPhone, and any browser on a computer, where people can type their answers and save the result.
